2008 Coaches vs. Cancer Golf Tournament

ONE MILLION DOLLAR MARK HIT!!
Penn State Head Basketball Coach Ed DeChellis hosted the 12th Annual Tee off on Cancer Golf Tournament June 5th and 6th, 2008.  Over 350 golfers braved sweltering temperatures to help us reach the ONE MILLION DOLLAR mark in funds raised since we began in 1997.

The festivities began with a catered CVC Celebrity/Sponsor Reception on Thursday, June 5th at the Bryce Jordan Center on the Penn State campus.  The floor of the BJC was transformed into an intimate setting that allowed sponsors, celebrities and guests a chance to mingle and catch up with old friends.  Along with music by Tommy Wareham and food and drink provided by Catering with Style, guests bid on a great selection of auction items and listened to stories of those fighting and beating cancer.  This event is always a great way to kick of our event and has become one of the premier social events of the year.

Golf began on Friday, June 6th with a shotgun start at 7:30am on both the Penn State Blue and White Golf Courses.

The second group of golfers teed off at 1:00pm that afternoon and were treated to a great day of golf, food on the course and great comradery.

Immediately following the golf event; the golfers, volunteers and guests were treated to an awards ceremony at the course under the main tent.

Awards for skill contests on the course, team prizes along with remarks from Coach Ed Dechellis and Big Ten Network's Dave Revsine were just part of the highlights of a great day of golf and fun.
